What is an Ecosystem? ·
« Narrative Ecology is a framework for designing interactions | Masters of Gesture »

An ecosystem is a unit in which the life-cycles of living organisms are linked to each other, as well as to the non-living constituents of the environment to form a dynamic, interactive natural system.
Ecology is a broad discipline comprising many sub-disciplines, so issues ranging from environmental to social to political to technological etc. are often informed by ecological perspectives and analysis. Below is an example of a social media ecosystem.

However, unlike the illustration above suggests, subdivisions of ecology are generally not mutually exclusive; -indeed, very few exist in isolation; -and many of them overlap, complement and inform each other.
